Baby Girl or Baby Boy?

It's time to update about our soon to be new member of the Landry family...We had our anatomy appointment on September 24th. This is appointment where they check the baby's growth to make sure that everything is growing normally. We got see the lungs, the 4 chambers of the heart, the brain, the stomach, etc. It is AMAZING what you can see with these ultrasounds! Everything is growing well. We took Leanna with us so she could experience seeing the baby. And it was such a treat for her. To be fair, Kayla was going to come see a picture of "the baby in mommy's tummy" but she didn't want to. She chose to stay with grandma and her aunt!

Anyway, Leanna had been wanting a baby sister since we told her we were pregnant. But last week she changed her mind. She wanted a baby brother. We wanted her to be there so she would be the first to know if she was going to have a baby sister or a baby brother. And the result is.........

A LITTLE PRINCESS.....

We are all so excited. I love girls! I think God knew that we needed another girl. And I am thrilled. Our girls' closets are full of dresses and shoes. And now they get to be worn once again, instead of being sold in a garage sale! I wonder who she will look like, whose attitude she will have, how big/small she's going to be. I wonder many things. But I know one thing for sure...she will loved by all of us! Leanna wants to name her Ariel or Jasmine (she loves her Disney Princesses, so that is her reason for her choices). But the naming process will come later!

I cannot wait to meet her. But I'm only halfway there so we will have to be patient! And our due date is still set for February 9th, 2009.

Now all we have to do is to convince Kayla to move into her big girl bed in the room that her and Leanna will share. We have been trying since earlier this year, but it has not been too successful. She loves her crib/bed. But I don't want to keep her in there any longer. And Leanna is anxiously waiting to share a room with her. But Kayla is set in her ways...so she may end up sharing a room with the baby!! No, we wouldn't do that. So I have till end of the year to move her into "their" room! Wish me luck!

Pictures from Ike

This on our street. This is our house...Thank God no major damage occurred! This is mom's house...you can't even see the house (to the right). A group of us attempted to clean some of the trees. The next day, Sunday the 14th, my brothers came to help get the trees. This picture would have been cooler had it been a video...it's the tree falling. The girls sat on the "amaca" (hammock) that dad put out in the front yard. They watched as the trees got cleaned up. This was a cute picture of them...thought I would add it. I'm not sure if Penny fell asleep in the amaca or if she escaped! After 12 days of no power at our house, it finally was restored on September 24th. Boy, we were so happy too. It doesn't seem like a long time to be with out power, but it was a very challenging time for us. It was emotionally draining to live out of family and friend's homes. We are truly blessed with wonderful people in our lives, because everyone that could, offered their home to us. And we appreciate everyone that let us "live" in their homes for a day or four days, etc. But there is nothing like "HOME SWEET HOME"!!!

Now we just have to pray our hardest for the rest of the people that are still without power. Hopefully everyone will be back to normal soon!

Hurricane IKE Aftermath

Well, Hurricane Ike came and went...and it came strong. We still don't have power at our house. But we are staying with James, who has power, cable, and Internet!! And for those of you who know where James lives...the question is, "How come he has power and we don't, and we live around the block from him?" Yep, we've been asking that for the past 5 days!!!
Anyway, our house didn't suffer much. We lost part of our fence on 2 sides. Our patio table lost a few tiles and we lost a few shingles. All our trees made it through the hurricane, which really surprises us! My mom also lost her side fence and her 2 huge trees from her front yard. Luckily those trees fell toward the street and not towards the house. Our friend James, lost his pine trees from the front yard, and his neighbors trees fell into his backyard, and he also lost fencing. But he has power. All the neighborhoods look like a war zone. But all the homes are fine; its the trees that make it a mess!

Anyway, thank the Lord for keeping all of us safe. We are all well. We're just going a little crazy from the boring days. It feels strange doing nothing all day long. Poor Leanna went through a little depression period. All she kept asking were questions, about why the hurricane did that, what happened to Galveston, was Galveston/Kemah destroyed, how come grandma's/our house/Tia My's house don't have electricity, and where are the horses from the Kemah carousel, etc. She asks questions non-stop about it, and I've been trying to keep all the answers very positive. But you can see it in her face when we drive around and the destruction is everywhere and places are abandoned...she knows something isn't right. But I always tell her that we need to tell God thanks for keeping all our houses safe. And she does. My poor girl. Kayla, on the other hand is loving going from house to house. She's taking a mini vacation from her routine! She's happy. But she's young enough where it doesn't affect her like it affects Leanna and the rest of us!

Ok, it's been a week since we've been home. They are saying that we won't get power until after Monday the 22nd. I'm praying that we get it before then...but it's not looking like that will happen. In the meantime, we are refugees at Case de James!
I will post up the pictures from the hurricane when we get our power. (I cannot upload to James computer.) And I will post up pictures from taking the girls to Downtown Aquarium on Pat's day off (from trying to recover Kemah)!

Hope everyone that was in Ike's path, is safe and happy! God Bless you all!
P.S. I am now almost 20 weeks along...and I was supposed to find out the gender of the baby last week...now it's pushed back to this coming Thursday...we'll see if my appointment gets cancelled again! For now I am feeling good, eating well, and peeing every 30 minutes so I know I'm doing OK!!!

Happy 4th Birthday Leanna!

Oh My Goodness! It is just so hard to believe that our firstborn is now 4 years old! WOW!! And boy she couldn't wait to turn 4 either.

We had a small celebration at the Children's Museum for her. A few of her friends and our friends came by. We had it on Sunday, September 7th. And she had a Strawberry Shortcake party. We all had been looking forward to this party cause now she really knows all about birthdays. She selected her theme, she told me she wanted strawberry ice cream at the party, and she was excited about the doll we bought to put on top of her cake. Well when we got to the museum, I was told I didn't bring my battery for my camera! So my sister let me use her camera, and Joan also took pictures with hers. So here are a few with my sister's camera! I guess I was too excited!

I just cannot believe that she is four. And she is so grown up too. She has been such a big help with Kayla. She helps put her shoes on, she takes care of her, if she cries she sings to her, she loves to "teach" her how to go potty (which Kayla is sometimes interested in), and she always asks her how school was. She's just a little grown up! She's a mini-me...and I love it! Here are her pics throughout the years...

A Day at the Beach...just the 4 of us!

Last Friday, we hopped in the car and headed towards Galveston. We didn't have much planned, just to hang out at the beach and enjoy the nice weather. We wanted to make a full day of hanging out and just enjoy each other.

So when we got to Galveston, we went to the Ferry Boat. Both the girls loved the breeze from the upper deck. They were loving the water. We got to point out some dolphins to them, which they truly enjoyed seeing! Once we got to the other side, to Crystal Beach, we decided to find a spot on that side to go swimming.

So we pulled into the beach area and parked our car. As soon as we got out of the cars the girls were wanting their "baby suits" on. Once we were all dressed, we headed for the water! It was such a nice day. The sky was blue, there was a slight breeze, and the water was perfect! I took some pictures of the girls and Pat while they were enjoying themselves. I swam for a while, but mostly stayed out, taking pictures, and reading. I had a good time...and they had an amazing time!

After we finished at the beach we headed back to Galveston and went to the Strand. We went into some shops and looked around, and then we got ice cream!! That was the best treat for the girls...and for me! Finally we headed home...we had some super tired little girls! And a super tired mom too!

It was such a relaxing day. We all truly loved being with each other. The girls behaved well. I didn't get too tired. And it was just a true blessing to have this time with each other! I hope we get to do more outings like this.

Labor Day Fun!

Happy Labor Day!
Even though Hurricane Gustav threatened to ruin Labor Day, it ended up not even coming close to us. Unfortunately New Orleans, was made a victim, again. We will praying for them as they clean up and recover once again.

The girls and I went to Grandma Flo's house, where everyone else was going to celebrate. There was tons of fun, swimming, and hanging out with family. It was a great day. As soon as the girls got there, they wanted to go swimming. Bienney was already enjoying the pool, so there was one adult to help out! Later on, Tia My came to swim as well.

Everyone was having a great time. The girls ate and swam. Three hours later, when the sky got really dark and it windy, we told them to get out. Of course it wasn't easy to get them out, but we did!

We hope everyone had a safe and Happy Labor Day!

Picnic Lunch

Yesterday when we went for our morning walk, Leanna suggested we have a picnic lunch. We have done this before, but it's always so hot. Yesterday's weather wasn't terrible at all, so I went ahead and prepared lunch for all of us.

We sat in our front yard and enjoyed the gorgeous day and each other's company. After they ate, they started playing around, jumping, and playing "garden". Lately they have been super loving with each other. That makes me very happy! So I took the opportunity to take some pictures.

I'm sure that we will be having more picnics with the fall coming soon!
