It's Back to School!

So this week marked the beginning of another school year. Leanna started Pre-K 4 on Monday. Kayla started 2 days of Mother's Day Out on Tuesday. She will go to school on Tuesday and Thursday, from 9-2.

Monday was also my first day working at their school! I took a position as a teacher aide, 4 days a week. It works out great, since both the girls go there, I'm pregnant, and since the school is literally around the corner from our house! So this week was special for all of us!When Leanna saw me wearing the school shirt, she said, "Mommy why are you wearing a teacher shirt? Teachers don't have babies in their tummies!" It was so cute!

Leanna did great the whole week. Her teacher is Mrs. Beheshti, who happens to be our neighbor. And she was placed in Advanced Pre-K 4, so I'm not sure how I feel about that! But so far Leanna loves her class, her teacher, and going to school. Today she brought home her folder with all the work from the week. And she did great in all her worksheets (she showed me her "Terrific" stamp on each sheet) and art/paint projects. She's lucky because Mrs. Beheshti has a lot of foam stamps and Leanna loves to stamp on everything!

Kayla's teachers are Miss Amy and Miss Fonda. Well, she cried both mornings. Luckily Pat was able to drop her off and spend a few extra minutes with her until she got settled. After she got familiar with Miss Amy and Miss Fonda, she did well. She came home singing "old McDonald" on her first day. I should have told them that they could win her over with songs and/or reading. Her note said she enjoyed singing songs and coloring, but they didn't send any work home. So maybe next week I will see her progress!

At school, before going in...
Thursday, outside of school
Leanna drew our family...she's into drawing the whole family now!
We will see how the rest of the school year goes for both the girls and for myself. I love it so far. It's given so much energy back. I help the teachers with the 1 year olds. And I love the little babies! It's fun, yet exhausting. But I can handle it. And I enjoy getting to see the girls whenever I have a free moment. So far so good...

Summer is for Swimming!

Oh My Goodness, has this summer been hot or what? It feels as if it's over 100 degrees everyday! The girls don't even want to go outside anymore, which is pretty sad. So we have been painting, coloring, watching movies, and playing inside as much as possible. But when ever we can , we try to let them go swimming. They either swim at Grandma's pool, Uncle Walter's pool, John's pool, or in our backyard in the "little" pool.

The girls have gotten braver and braver each time they get in the pool. They wear the floaties on their arms, or they wear the swimming tubes (I guess that's what they're called). Unfortunately,I don't get in the pool much because I get to hot too quick. I know I should get in there and exercise. But it's just too tiring! But the girls go with their aunts or with Pat and James!

Sometime before the summer is over, I'm sure we have to take them back to Schlitterbahn too. Like I said, before the summer is over, we will go back to Schlitterbahn and Galveston! For now, they can swim to their hearts desire in the pools!

Picture Time

Since I hadn't made it out to the studio to take Kayla's 2 year old pictures, I went this week. I did her 2 year old shots and Leanna's 4 year old shots. Both did a great job. Of course we spent more than we needed to. But since we don't do professional Christmas pictures and we only do pictures once a year, it was worth it.
Leanna took more pictures than Kayla because she is a true diva. She loves the camera. Once Kayla is done with smiling, she is done. So we din't get extra poses of Kayla, but we still got enough pictures of both!
Here are a few of the ones we liked...

Thanks Pat, James and Stacy for helping with the experience!
